Embrace Each Moment - Love is in the Air

Today I am joining:

The theme is: Love is in the Air

Here in Australia, Valentine's Day was not celebrated when I was growing up (you know, back when the dinosaurs were roaming, pre-electricity), so it's not as big here. However, we got married on 5th February and a lot of the Valentine's stamps are suitable for our Anniversary!

Those who know me, will know my favourite style is clean and simple, so it should be no surprise that my card reflects that!

I just love this card and I am so pleased with the final result! Not all things are as simple as they look and this card was no exception. Embrace Each Moment is one of my favourite stamp sets (I just love this style of stamp) and I knew it was the one I wanted to use.

I have also fallen in love with the Oh So Ombre DSP and thought I could combine it with Stitched Be Mine dies to frame the image of the joined hands. Initially I stamped the image in Memento but decided it was too harsh once I stamped the sentiment in Gray Granite. I punched a second heart to stamp on and then decided the colour was not light enough and the contrast with the white was more than I wanted. Anyway, long story shortened, it was quite a lot of trial and error before I got the look I wanted!

The epoxy hearts I had left over from a year or so ago and I coloured them with the dark Rococo Rose Stampin' Blends.

Card Measurements

Card base:    29.7cm x 10.5cm scored at 14.9cm and folded

1st layer:    14.5cm x 10cm

DSP:    Oh So Ombre Rococo Rose

Instructions

  • Using the Stitched Be Mine dies cut two hearts from the lightest section of the DSP (I used both the 3rd & 4th largest stitched hearts together to cut them)
  • Using the same two stitched heart dies cut a heart from the centre of the 1st layer
  • Replace the outer heart back into the 1st layer and secure on the back using tape
  • Stamp the hands image on the inner heart cut from DSP
  • Stamp the sentiment on the 1st layer
  • Adhere the 1st layer to the front of the card base using dimensionals
  • Adhere the stamped DSP heart to the front of the card base (I used mini dimensionals but just glue would be better I think)
  • Adhere epoxy hearts (after colouring) to 1st layer
  • Adhere outer hearts from DSP to inside back of card base
