October 2020 Kylie's Demonstrator Support Blog Hop

Welcome to the first blog hop for 2020/2021 with:

This is the card that my first customer for the month will receive as my thank you!

As you can see, I have chosen gelato style colours this month! I love the softness of them and the way they blend together so well. It also allows the stamped image to 'pop'.

This was a fun card to make and was much easier than it looks! I was inspired by Kylie Bertucci's Scrappy Strip Mosaic card but altered the way I cut the second lot of strips.

Measurements:

Card base 29.8cm x 10.5cm
1st layer 14.5cm x 10cm
2nd layer 14cm x 9.5cm (x2)
3rd layer 8.5cm x 7cm
4th layer 8cm x 6.5cm

Recipe:

I began with the 4 different colour cardstock each measuring 14.9cm x 10.5cm and then cut along the 14.9cm side at an angle.

I then glued the strips down to the second layer in landscape position. Make sure your first strip is level with the bottom of the second layer. You add strips making sure to leave a small gap between them.

Tip: Make sure you fully cover each strip with adhesive as it will make the next step much easier!! (Wonder how I know that??!!)

Tip:  I put all the coloured strips in a pile after mixing them up and stuck them down randomly so sometimes they were the same colour and sometimes the thick ends were at the same end.

Tip:  I had two second layers in the same colour. Photo below shows strips glued to the first second layer.

As you can see, some strips had an overhang so they had to be trimmed back to the second layer size of 14cm x 9.5cm.

You now cut angled strips the same as you did before (once glue fully dry) but with the glued strips in portrait position.

Again, mix up your cut strips and randomly adhere to other second layer cardstock but this time along 9.5cm edge. Remember to leave a small gap between strips.

Stamp your image and sentiment on fourth layer, colour and adhere to third layer. Attach third layer to second layer.

Attach second layer to first layer and adhere all joined layers to card base.

I hope you enjoy making one of these cards. I would love to see any you make, so please add yours to the comments!

There are many fabulous projects to see on the other blogs, so make sure you visit them all for inspiration! There is a list below of links to them all. You are currently on my page, Deb Macdowell - Inkstability.

I love to hear from you so please leave a comment and/or a picture of your project using the scrappy strip mosaic technique!

Cheers
Deb xx
