Very Versailles Thank You

The technique I am using today I call 'the rainbow' technique! I'm not sure where I first saw it, but I haven't made a card with it for quite a while.

Today I am joining with demonstrators from all over the world to participate in:

Please join in the fun with us and vote for your favourite 5 projects. Simply click on the image below and when you have decided on your 5 favourites, click on the little heart in the top right hand corner of each of the entries.

Card Measurements

Card base:    21cm x 14.9cm scored at 10.5cm and folded

1st layer:    14.5cm x 10cm

Inner layer:    14.5cm x 10cm

Computer paper:    14.5cm x 10cm

Instructions

  • Cut a 7.5cm diameter circle in the computer paper in the same position you want it to be on the 1st layer and retain the cut out circle
  • Place computer paper over 1st layer and using re-positionable tape make sure it won't move
  • Mark a spot on one side of the hole in the computer paper about 1/3rd up from the bottom - this will be your pivot point that your cut out circle piece will always need to be touching
  • Place your cut out circle so it covers all but about 0.5cm of the hole making sure the 'gap' starts at your pivot point
  • Taking your lightest colour ink and a dauber/sponge/blending brush colour the 'gap'
  • Move your cut out circle so the 'gap' shows 1cm of the hole making sure your cut out circle is still starting at your pivot point
  • Move your cut out circle so the 'gap' shows 1.5cm of the hole making sure your cut out circle is still starting at your pivot point
  • Change to your next lightest colour ink and repeat the last 3 steps making the 'gap' 0.5cm bigger each time
  • Repeat the last step, each time using a slightly darker ink until the whole hole is coloured
  • Remove the computer paper mask/template
  • Place computer paper hole over inner layer and using your lightest ink colour, colour in the hole so it's lightest in the middle and darkest around the edges (all with the one colour)
  • Stamp image on 1st layer over the coloured circle
  • Stamp sentiment on 1st layer
  • Adhere 1st layer to front of card base using dimensionals
  • Stamp image on inner layer over coloured circle
  • Adhere inner layer to inside back of card base

I hope my instructions make sense. I made a video a few years ago that may make it clearer

Thanks for visiting my page today. I hope you have enjoyed my 'rainbow' technique!

Cheers
