One of my team members organised a card for us to make at our team meeting this month. It used the herringbone technique and this is the card I made.
Card Measurements
Card base: 29.7cm x 10.5cm scored at 14.9cm and folded
1st layer: 14.5cm x 10cm
Inner layer: 14.5cm x 10cm
Scrap for sentiment, image and to cover 1st layer in strips
Instructions
- Cut 9 x 1cm wide strips of DSP in two different colours
- Apply Tombow to cover the front of the 1st layer
- Make two triangles by placing one strip diagonally across the 1st layer
- Using the same colour, place another strip at 90° angle to first one making 2 more triangles
- Using same colour repeat last step but on other side of first strip
- Using 2nd colour, place strips on two sides of each of the four triangles
- Using 1st colour, place strips on two sides of each of the four triangles
- Repeat last two steps, alternating colours until all the 1st layer is completely covered
- Trim strip excess off 1st layer
- Adhere 1st layer to front of card base
- Stamp image on scrap using memento
- Colour image using water painters and ink
- Die cut image using Snail dies
- Using Stampin' Blends, colour edge of die cut image to match card base
- Adhere image to front of card base using dimensionals
- Stamp sentiment on scrap using versamark
- Heat set sentiment using gold embossing powder
- Die cut/punch sentiment
- Adhere sentiment to matting
- Adhere matted sentiment to front of card base using dimensionals
- Stamp image/s on inner layer using card base colour
- Adhere inner layer to inside back of card base
