Inspiring Canopy

The theme for our hop today is: Harvest Time

Grab a comfortable seat, your favourite beverage and relax while perusing all the wonderful projects we have for you today in:

Living in Australia, we don't really celebrate harvest time or Fall (only we call it Autumn). I'm not sure why, maybe because we are harvesting our crops all year round, maybe because we don't get a lot of snow in the areas our crops are grown, so they don't all have to be in at the same time. However, we do have wonderful Autumn/Fall foliage, so that became my main inspiration!

Card Measurements

Card base:    29.7cm x 10.5cm scored at 14.9cm and folded

1st layer:    Cork DSP - 10cm x 3cm and 7.5cm x 7.5cm

2nd layer:    9cm x 8cm

Inner layer:    8.5cm x 7.5cm

Scrap/extra card:    for die cutting tree trunks and leaves

Instructions

  • Cut 7.5cm off front flap of card base and keep
  • Cut 7.5cm piece of front flap into a square
  • Cut 7.5cm square of front flap diagonally
  • Cut 7.5cm square of Cork DSP diagonally
  • Adhere triangular Cork DSP to triangular front flap piece
  • Adhere triangular piece to top right hand corner of the inside of the card base (make sure both edges align) using dimensionals on two edges only - NOT the diagonal edge and not in the middle)
  • Adhere 10cm x 3cm Cork DSP to left edge of front flap leaving an even border
  • Die cut Cork DSP for tree trunks
  • Using re-inkers, randomly put 5 or 6 drops of each colour on a baby wipe (I used Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze)
  • Using scrap, press onto baby wipe. You will need to do this several times, moving and turning scrap until all covered with ink
  • Die cut scrap, once inked and dry, for leaves
  • Adhere Cork DSP tree trunks to 2nd layer
  • Adhere leaves to tree trunks on 2nd layer
  • Using scraps of left overs from die cutting leaves, adhere to bottom of tree trunks and along inner layer bottom edge
  • Using a water painter and Sahara Sand ink pad, I did a light wash between tree trunks
  • Stamp sentiment on 2nd layer
  • Adhere 2nd layer to front flap leaving an even margin (make sure to only place adhesive on back of left hand side (approx 3cm))
  • Adhere inner layer to inside back of card base, lining it up so it will be covered by the 2nd layer on the front
